Pre-K AM Exploratory - The Giving Tree
This one of a kind paper mache Giving Tree is made of books and words to inspire and charm. Our littlest angels made this with their own tiny hands. It stands 19 inches high and 17 inch diameter. Wonderful for any room of the house, the preschool class worked hard on putting their scissor skills to work by intricately cutting paper strips of a book and deftly paper-mache their ‘tree’. This neutral piece will complement any home and is a versatile decorative piece of art for any occasion (e.g. can be decorated with seasonal ornaments to celebrate any holiday).

Kindergarten - KOINOBORI
We chose to make a Koinobori, a carp-shaped windsock, in celebration of Kodomo no hi (Children’s Day). The choice of a carp for this festival comes from an old Chinese tale about a golden carp that swam upstream until it reached the top of a waterfall and became a dragon. It symbolizes strength and achievement. The windsocks are usually displayed on rods outside, but we wanted to make something we could bring indoors to celebrate our kids year-round. For this project the kids decorated their own scales to show how we are all unique but when we come together we can make something even more beautiful.

4th grade - Duo of Crosses
For this years 4th grade project, we decided on a duo of crosses. The first cross is made up of jenga pieces. We dyed the blocks first in coffee, red wine, or Gatorade. Then we put them together to create a simple cross. The second cross is made up of blocks of wood with our favorite bible verses and symbols. Students wrote on various wooden blocks which were then fitted together by one of our handy dads to create a stunning piece of art.
